IBRAHIM TAHIR
About the Artist
Ibrahim is a MFA student at LSU New Orleans, where he integrates a rigorous academic focus with a dedicated creative practice. As a mixed media digital artist, his work exists at the intersection of animation, digital collage, and printmaking.
His works express the connection between identity, freedom, and cultural narratives. His work blends digital media with traditional techniques to create thought-provoking compositions. Through layering and abstraction, he transforms personal experiences into universal themes. He aims to evoke emotion and reflection, inviting viewers to engage with his visual storytelling.
His digital collages integrate photography, illustration, and hand-scripted Urdu calligraphy. Drawing from his native Pakistani heritage, he utilizes calligraphy not only as a stylistic element but as a foundational tool to establish a unifying cultural identity within his designs.
His creative process is deeply conceptual, beginning with the visualization of specific messages or stories. Through a rigorous design phase, he experiments with visuals to evolve these initial thoughts into cohesive narratives.
Ibrahim’s practice is driven by a commitment to social awareness and global advocacy. In an increasingly unstable world, he views collage as a critical medium for understanding and sharing the stories of marginalized populations. Ultimately, he seeks to open a dialogue regarding mental health, positioning it as a vital societal priority through his evocative visual storytelling.
